WhatsApp to Introduce Linked Device Monitoring for Enhanced Security

WhatsApp is reportedly developing a new security feature for Android users aimed at strengthening account protection and privacy. This upcoming update will enable users to monitor all linked devices in real time, offering greater transparency and control.

Currently, users must manually check the “Linked Devices” section to view active sessions. The new system, however, is expected to provide instant visibility, making it easier to track connected devices without extra steps.

A key addition is an alert mechanism that notifies users whenever a linked device is active at the same time as their primary phone. This feature is designed to quickly highlight any unusual or unauthorized activity. For example, receiving such a notification while actively using your phone could signal that an old session on a shared or public computer is still being accessed.

To ensure the experience remains user-friendly, the notification system will be carefully optimized to avoid unnecessary interruptions. Alerts will only be triggered when both the primary and secondary devices are in use simultaneously, rather than when a linked device is active on its own.

Users will also have the option to turn these alerts on or off through the Advanced Privacy Settings, giving them flexibility based on their preferences.

Although the feature is still under development and not yet available in public beta, it marks an important step in WhatsApp’s ongoing efforts to improve account security as its multi-device capabilities continue to expand.
