The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has officially announced Eid ul Azha and summer vacations for educational institutions under its administration in Islamabad.
According to a notification issued on May 20, schools and colleges operating under the FDE will remain closed from May 25 to July 31, 2026, while academic activities are scheduled to restart on August 3, 2026.
The decision covers Islamabad Model Schools and Colleges, including former FG institutions located in both urban and rural parts of the federal capital.
While students will enjoy an extended break, institutional heads and administrative personnel will continue performing duties during summer vacations, following revised office timings from 9:00am to 1:00pm.
The directive also outlines several activities planned for the vacation period. Educational institutions have been instructed to facilitate student involvement in a two-week Summer Fiesta starting June 15, with additional details expected after Eid holidays.
To support academic preparation, institutions will arrange coaching classes for Grade 9 and Grade 10 students during June and July to help ensure timely completion of the syllabus. These sessions may be conducted through faculty members or via the Digital Hub Connected Classroom platform, including live and recorded lessons.
The notification further directs institutions to submit nominations for upcoming teacher training programs by May 22, with selected teachers required to attend.
However, students enrolled in BS and ADP undergraduate programs will continue classes according to their existing academic calendar.
In addition, schools and colleges have been instructed to use the vacation period for repair work, maintenance tasks, and inventory checks.
